A View Into Daina's Life

Daina is our little princess. She is a fan of everything pink, and I mean everything. Her favorite DVDs always include some sort of princess and she is very interested in those straight-to-DVD animated Barbie princess movies. The rest of the family can hardly stomach the sicking sweetness, but it is right up her alley.

She is also gaining a wide variety of new skills like making the bed and cleaning her room. Becky is working on her reading practice and she likes to write letters to her friends. However, she only knows letters, so we have to spell out every word for her. We prefer short letters.

Daina the Singer-Songwriter
Daina is the word "Song" in Lithuanian and she is true to her name. She is regularly making up songs and singing them to the rest of the family. They are a ton of fun and she really puts her heart into them. I tried to upload a short clip of her, but to no avail. I'll try to correct that and send it out next time. Its SO cute!

Daina Quotes
Here are a few funny Daina quotes that I though we would share this week. Its an interesting view into the mind of our four-year-old.
Every prayer this month has included the plea that "Christmas will come earlier."

I had a three-day conference in Lincoln this week. On Day 2, Daina was heard telling a little friend at the library that, "My Daddy moved away."

After talking to a new little friend at Jared's school Christmas Concert, Daina reported that the little girl "has a TV in their car. Isn't that amazing! Why didn't we think of that!"

While Jon was home eating lunch one day, she brought out a kids cell phone toy and said, "Dad, I'm going to call a friend on the phone. Can you please try to keep quiet."

Daina had a bad dream the other day and Becky stayed with her, even laying in her bed with her for a while to get her back to sleep. In the morning, Becky asked her if she had another nightmare. Daina replied, "No, I had a wonderful dream." Becky inquired what it was about, and Daina said, "It was about Jesus. He blessed me."
We are so grateful for Daina. She is a great breath of fresh air and always seems to make us smile when we need one.

Another fun Daina moment this morning: She told me, "Mom, I've been writing about the 80s." I asked, "Oh, really? What do you know about the 80s?" She replied, "Well, it was along time ago before there was houses and cars and stuff like that." I had no idea I was so old . . .
